Airwolf premiered in 1984. The helicopter seen in the series was based on a cosmetically modified Bell 222. Its black fuselage, streamlined cockpit, retractable landing gear, and futuristic design made it one of the most recognizable television helicopters of the 1980s. Decades later, many may not remember every storyline, but they still remember the sight of Airwolf sweeping through the valleys, the clean silhouette after its landing gear retracted, and the feeling that a new mission was about to begin as the rotors came to life.
On August 7, 2026, the FLYWING AIRWOLF officially launches.
For this release, we drew on the classic screen presence of Airwolf and further refined its proportions, structure, and scale details, presenting this iconic memory of 1980s aviation in a more complete form.
Continuing to Refine a Classic AIRWOLF
We have released an Airwolf model before, and we have always valued the connection pilots have with this helicopter. This AIRWOLF retains the classic black-and-white fuselage while introducing comprehensive updates to the airframe proportions, two-blade rotor head, rivet detailing, auxiliary jet nozzles, belly and side-mounted scale accessories, and landing gear details. Whether displayed on a shelf or flown outdoors, we want it to express the unmistakable strength and futuristic character of Airwolf.
Refined Proportions, a Classic Silhouette
Much of Airwolf's appeal comes from its distinctive airframe proportions. We further refined the structural relationship between the nose, cockpit, fuselage, and tail. The low-set nose flows naturally into the large dark cockpit, the black-and-white fuselage creates a strong visual contrast, and the belly and tail retain the compact character that defines Airwolf.
These refinements reveal something different from every angle. On approach, the nose and cockpit create a stronger presence. In a side pass, the lines from front to rear feel more connected. With the landing gear retracted, the aircraft presents a clean, complete silhouette in the air.
For a scale helicopter, proportion is more than a set of measurements on the display table. It determines whether the aircraft keeps its identity while hovering, turning, and flying a full circuit.
New Details That Define AIRWOLF
This AIRWOLF adds finer rivet and panel textures across the fuselage. The auxiliary jet nozzle shapes at the rear have also been refined to blend naturally with the tail. A custom two-blade rotor head balances stability with precise control, while the quick-release blades simplify installation and removal. The removable top cover also provides more direct access for routine inspection and maintenance.
A scale rocket launcher shape has been added beneath the fuselage, together with more complete decorative weapon details along both sides. From the front and side to the underside, these additions give AIRWOLF the unmistakable presence of a mission aircraft. They enrich the close-up viewing experience and make its airborne posture feel even more complete.
Automatic Retractable Landing Gear Adds Drama to Takeoff
One of the most iconic moments as AIRWOLF takes flight is the retraction of its landing gear. After takeoff, the gear automatically retracts when the helicopter climbs above approximately 2 meters. As AIRWOLF descends below that height on its return, the gear extends again. Pilots can also change the landing gear position manually from the transmitter.Pilots can also manually toggle the landing gear from the transmitter.
From a gentle liftoff to the moment the gear folds into the fuselage, AIRWOLF's silhouette becomes noticeably cleaner. Before landing, the gear extends once more, giving the entire flight a more complete sense of sequence.
The landing gear area also features richer scale structure that complements the decorative details along both sides of the fuselage. It is more than a single mechanical movement; it is part of AIRWOLF's overall design and its presence in flight.
Scale Presence, Composed Flight
Equipped with the ACE flight control system and a multi-link GNSS system, AIRWOLF can maintain a stable outdoor hover. During takeoff, the Soft Takeoff and Landing function helps manage vertical speed close to the ground, allowing the helicopter to lift smoothly before transitioning naturally into normal flight.
Three-Speed Control gives pilots room to choose the feel that suits them. Soft Mode is ideal while getting familiar with AIRWOLF, Normal Mode works well for everyday circuits, and Sport Mode delivers a faster, more responsive control feel when you want greater speed and agility.
The Coordinated Turning function also adds the appropriate roll input according to flight speed. As AIRWOLF enters a turn, the fuselage adopts a more natural bank angle, creating a smoother, more convincing maneuver for anyone watching from the ground.
Approximately 23 Minutes of Reference Flight Time
The best flights are the ones where you do not have to rush through every maneuver.
Under windless hover testing at sea level, AIRWOLF achieved a maximum reference flight time of approximately 23 minutes. You can begin with a stable hover, watch the silhouette change as the landing gear retracts, and then fly several complete circuits to appreciate AIRWOLF from different angles.
The 4S LiPo battery and two-stage voltage protection make power management easier to follow. One-Key Return-to-Home, Low-Battery Return-to-Home, and Failsafe Return-to-Home
