FLYWING UH-60L FIREHAWK: Launching September 4, 2026

In the late 1990s, the Los Angeles County Fire Department set out to turn the lifting power and agility of the Black Hawk platform into a capable aerial firefighting aircraft. That idea grew into the FIREHAWK, a helicopter able to support rapid water pickup and drops, firefighter transport, hoist rescue, and medical evacuation. It gave the Black Hawk family a very different mission beyond the battlefield: protecting lives and communities.

Now, that real-world story is coming to scale flight with the FLYWING UH-60L FIREHAWK. It retains the unmistakable silhouette of the Black Hawk family while bringing the high-visibility look of a firefighting helicopter to collectors and outdoor RC pilots.

Inspired by the Unmistakable Copter 16

The registration N160LA and the number 16 on the vertical tail trace this livery back to its real-world inspiration: the Los Angeles County Fire Department's S-70A FIREHAWK, widely known as Copter 16.

FLYWING brings its distinctive yellow, white, and black color scheme to the UH-60L FIREHAWK, together with recognizable markings such as L.A. COUNTY FIRE. White forms the main body of the helicopter, a vivid yellow stripe runs from beneath the nose toward the tail boom, and black sweeps across the upper engine area and tail. Against a clear outdoor sky, the high-contrast finish gives the helicopter a strong presence and helps pilots read its heading and attitude in flight.

A closer look reveals the wide cockpit, fuselage windows, landing gear, and familiar tail profile. Together with the 470-size four-blade rotor system, these details preserve the substantial presence of the Black Hawk family while giving the model a visual identity closely tied to aerial firefighting and rescue.

Steady Control for Different Flying Styles

As the newest addition to FLYWING's Black Hawk lineup, the UH-60L FIREHAWK continues with a proven 470-size four-blade configuration, supported by the ACE flight control system and multi-link GNSS.

Outdoors, GNSS positioning support assists with stable position and altitude hold. When the sticks are released, the flight controller helps the helicopter maintain its position, allowing the pilot to focus more on the helicopter's attitude, its scale presence, and the next part of the flight path.

Three-Speed Control lets pilots choose a response that suits their experience and flying style. Newer pilots can begin with the Soft setting as they become familiar with hovering and orientation, while experienced pilots can select a more responsive setting for a quicker, more dynamic feel. 

Coordinated turning applies an appropriate amount of roll based on flight speed

helping the helicopter carve a smoother, more natural-looking arc through a turn. Soft takeoff and landing support also makes the transition into and out of the air more composed, adding to the visual realism of scale flight.

Up to 18 Minutes for a More Relaxed Flight

The UH-60L FIREHAWK supports a 4S LiPo battery. Under sea-level, no-wind hovering test conditions, the maximum reference flight time is approximately 18 minutes. Actual flight time will vary with weather, flying style, and battery condition.

That flight time leaves room for close-range hover displays, low passes, and broad sweeping turns without making every flight feel rushed. As the yellow-and-white fuselage moves through the sky, the livery reveals a different visual impressio from each angle.

One-Key Return-to-Home and Low-Battery Return-to-Home provide additional support during outdoor flying. Return functions do not include automatic obstacle avoidance, so always fly in an open area, keep the helicopter within visual line of sight, wait for satellite positioning, and complete all preflight safety checks before takeoff.
